Ally Law

Over 40 years experience of harmony singing and performing has enabled me to work with a diverse range of people.
My first performance with a choir was when I was 9 and I haven't looked back. My years singing with Phoenix Chorus based in Bedfordshire, gave me the desire to one day direct my own choir.
Since then I have had the pleasure of coaching and directing choirs of all ages and abilities. I have been a performance/vocal coach, a judge and choreographer of both a male and female national champion chorus. I have planned and lead many adult and youth singing events, including the very popular DIVA FOR A DAY workshops. I have sung in five quartets including 'Caboodle' the 2002 Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers Champions. I sang with FARENHEIT 14 years and always enjoyed the chance to perform with them during DALEDIVA concerts.
Career wise I served in the Royal Air Force, I've been a plumber and lots in between! In 2016 Leisha Martin and I created L&A Vocals and now get to do what I love every day: singing, entertaining and hopefully inspiring. We run two community choirs as well as providing singing for various occasions. In 2021, I became a Wedding and Funeral Celebrant which I also absolutely love and feel privileged to do.
I decided to start DALEDIVA because I had just re-located with my family to the Derbyshire Dales and didn't know anyone. So it was my chance to direct my own group and make new friends......perfect!
I will never forget the opening night when over 80 women turned up at Cromford Community Centre.....'we need more chairs!'. I am immensely proud of the many achievements DALEDIVA has accomplished and the supportive, fun loving and talented choir they are. I will always be grateful to my peers through the years for giving me the foundation to become the musical director that I am.
When I see the huge impact singing has on self esteem, well being and social interaction it gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction. Singing makes you feel good and I love spreading joy and and having fun with those I work with. Oh, and the added bonus................. life long friends.
