It was back in autumn 2007 when Ally Law made the decision to turn her love of singing into a quest to fulfil her lifelong dream of directing her own Barbershop group. In 2009 they entered their first ever Barbershop Contest at the Sage, Newcastle. DALEDIVA won a bronze medal in their category and came 6th overall. A fantastic achievement as 95% of  the singers were completely new to this style of performance. We can still recall the cheers and tears!

In 2010 she entered the choir into the live channel 5 Show 'Don't Stop Believing' and they won! Both a thrilling and humbling moment for them all as it was a public vote. Thank you to all those that voted.

It was such an exciting experience and one we will never forget.
This gave Ally and the choir the belief that anything is achievable if you are creative and  work hard enough. That philosophy carried them to her ultimate goal of competing at the World Barbershop Championships at the MGM, Las Vegas, where they won a silver medal, missing Gold by one point! They achieved the highest score of any chorus from the UK and the Netherlands in the Harmony Classic Competition. That record still stands.

In 2018 the choir said thank you and goodbye to the Barbershop world and embraced a more diverse acapella repertoire and introduced some songs with musical accompaniment.

Why the name DALEDIVA?
Firstly, the choir is based in the beautiful DERBYSHIRE DALES. Secondly, we feel that there is a Diva inside everyone. Not one of those 'self-important people who are temperamental and difficult to please', but rather, 'someone who has a voice and a performance inside them that just needs to be heard'.
